Gowling WLG's Digital Risk Calculator

08/22/2017

International law firm Gowling WLG has teamed up with the University of Derby's Data Science experts to design and build a calculator that assesses a firm's digital risk. 999 businesses across 19 industries were surveyed in the UK, France and Germany, followed by a comparison analysis to derive an average risk level.

The calculator splits the respondents' data into four categories – digital risks, respondents' country, industry sectors and business size – and for each possible configuration of the latter three, the five risk areas with the largest percentage of 'very high risk' outcomes are listed. A risk level between 0 and 100 is then provided.

The risks commonly seen include threats such as external cyberattacks, regulatory issues, identity theft and more.

The calculator can be accessed here if you'd like to assess the potential for your own digital risk.
