MinterEllison and Greenberg Glusker Collaborate to Support Pride Western Australia’s Bid
MinterEllison and Greenberg Glusker are pleased to announce their joint effort in assisting Pride Western Australia (Pride WA) with the legal review required as part of its successful bid to host the Gay Games 2030, the world’s largest LGBTQIA+ sports and cultural event.
As Pride WA’s primary counsel, MinterEllison engaged Greenberg Glusker—its World Law Group (WLG) partner—to provide legal advice for the Federation of Gay Games’ (FGG), a California nonprofit, bid process. Candidate cities were required to review and comment on FGG’s proposed License Agreement under California law.
Greenberg Glusker partners Michelle Mabugat (Corporate) and Elizabeth Sbardellati (IP & Licensing) assisted Pride WA pro bono basis, advising on key corporate, commercial, and intellectual property considerations. Their work complemented MinterEllison’s broader counsel and contributed to a complete and informed bid submission.
"Our longstanding World Law Group relationship allowed us to collaborate seamlessly with Greenberg Glusker and deliver cross-jurisdictional guidance efficiently,” said Alex Lowe, Partner at MinterEllison.
"Partnering with MinterEllison to support Pride WA during the bid review process was an honor,” said Mabugat. "The Gay Games embody inclusion and global community—values reflected in this collaboration.”
With Perth now confirmed as the host city, Pride WA anticipates further engagement with both firms as preparations for the 2030 Games progress, including negotiations on sponsorship, licensing, and other commercial agreements.
