Briefly describe your role.
I provide indirect tax advisory and advisory services in matters regarding customs, international trade, and trade compliance for both Swedish and multinational companies within a number of different industries. My professional experience includes projects varying from VAT reviews, tax audits, due diligence, and VAT planning projects. I have also served several international clients in global VAT projects and compliance matters from VAT, customs, and excise duties perspectives.
You’ll be guiding the July 10 session on what’s happening post-90-day pause. What developments are you most anticipating or watching closely as that period comes to an end?
Following the recent pause, it will be of particular interest to see how trade relations between the United States and the European Union will develop. Some progress has occurred, but differences in trade policies and barriers persist, especially with the USA’s current administration. The trade landscape has become unpredictable, and it is difficult for businesses to get a clear picture of how to position themselves, both short-term and long-term, and what actions are required. As the 90-day interval ends, we hope that we will see a framework that provides clarity for businesses going forward when it comes to transatlantic trade.
Beyond your specific practice area, what’s something you enjoy or find energizing, whether professionally or personally?
Stepping out of my comfort zone. This applies both professionally and personally. Even though you don’t enjoy it at first, once the specific task or work is finished that required you to step out of your comfort zone, the sense of accomplishment and the feeling that you have gained a new experience is very energizing.
