Ukraine Financing Forum on International Recovery Financing

Published on May 16, 2025

The Ukraine Financing Forum, hosted by Sayenko Kharenko, successfully took place yesterday, 15 May 2025. The event brought together representatives from international financial institutions (IFIs), development finance institutions (DFIs), export credit agencies (ECAs), and Ukrainian businesses to foster dialogue on financing mechanisms and strategies for Ukraine’s economic recovery.

The forum saw strong attendance from key stakeholders, including Ukrainian corporates, state-owned enterprises, banks, financial institutions, and policy makers involved in Ukraine’s economic rebuilding efforts.

"The level of engagement we witnessed yesterday demonstrates the critical importance of connecting Ukrainian businesses with international financing sources,” said Anton Korobeynikov, Partner, Sayenko Kharenko, who moderated the forum. "The practical insights shared by international and local experts will help accelerate financing solutions for Ukraine’s most pressing development needs.”

The event featured two expert panels that generated significant discussion:

The first panel, "International Support in Financing Ukraine’s Future,” included representatives from EBRD, IFC, Swedfund, Finnvera, and Raiffeisen Bank Aval. Panellists shared insights on specific financing programs, eligibility criteria, practical application tips, and case studies of successful financing projects in Ukraine.

The second panel, "Sector-specific Opportunities in Energy, Infrastructure, and Agriculture,” featured speakers from DTEK Renewables, Ukrnafta, JSC Ukrainian Railways, Ukreximbank, and AON Ukraine. The discussion focused on Ukrainian corporates’ sector-specific financing needs and featured feedback from international financing institutions on successful financing structures and strategies.

Networking sessions between panels allowed participants to connect informally with speakers and fellow attendees, fostering valuable relationships between Ukrainian businesses and potential financing partners.

The forum highlighted several key opportunities for Ukrainian businesses seeking international financing, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors, which were identified as priority areas for international support.

The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) and the Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine (IABU) were information partners for the event.
