Coca Cola Femsa entered into a Private Power Purchase Agreement with Nesyla S.A

Coca Cola Femsa entered into a Private Power Purchase Agreement with Nesyla S.A, a subsidiary of Atlantica Yield plc, to purchase the energy to be generated in a solar pharm to be constructed in Albisu, Salto (Uruguay). The PPA will cover the electricity requirements of the bottling plant of Coca Cola Femsa, in Montevideo. The intention of Coca Cola Femsa is that 100% of the energy consumed comes from renewable sources.

It is one of the first private PPA signed in Uruguay and the largest so far, pursuant to which a large consumer will purchase 100% of the electricity from a private generator, instead of the public electricity company (UTE). The transmission of the electricity will still be done by UTE, who has the monopoly over such activity, and at this moment the parties are working on the transportation agreements needed for such purposes.

This is a landmark project which will probably lead the way to many other industries looking to move into environmental friendly strategies.
