ENSafrica (South Africa) aligned its efforts with two United Nations goals: the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all and sustainably manage and protect life below water. The firm’s Johannesburg office partnered with the Alex Water Sanitation and Environment Forum, which is based in the historically disadvantaged township of Alexandra. The firm took a multi-pronged approach in assisting the forum’s “Water Warriors”: providing social enterprise training, offering governance advice, and donating tools for the thrice-weekly cleaning of a highly polluted river which runs through the township. Lawyers from ENSafrica’s Natural Resources and Environment department also held environmental training workshops. The firm is excited to see the positive change that this initiative is bringing to the waterways of Alexandra and to its residents.
