Gowling WLG (England) held a biodiversity essay competition for university undergraduates. The top prize was a week's paid work experience at the London office with Environment and Sustainability lawyers. The firm also held an Open Day for runners up. Alongside this, beebombs (seedballs of wildflowers that grow when scattered on cleared ground) were distributed to staff and clients at internal and external events throughout the year. Both of these initiatives are also related to the firm’s involvement with the Commonwealth Games 2022 to be held in Birmingham, of which Gowling WLG is the legal sponsor. The Games’ Organizing Committee has made seven pledges to leave a lasting legacy, including the creation of 2000+ acres of forest.
