Jens Hjortskov

1. Briefly describe your practice.
I am head of the Real Estate & Construction Team in Bech-Bruun’s Copenhagen office. My practice focuses on legal advice in the cross-section of construction and procurement law. In that capacity, I have assisted in the planning and execution of several large building and construction projects in Denmark. My team has considerable experience in drafting and negotiating construction contracts. Project development within real estate is also an integral part of my practice. In addition, I am highly experienced in conducting arbitration proceedings before the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Board.
2. What do you look forward to as the new Real Estate Group Co-Chair?
I look forward to many things. In particular, to increase the focus within WLG on commercial real estate and the many great business opportunities it involves. I want to get to know and share experiences with many real estate and construction lawyers within WLG to the benefit of our businesses and the network.
3. You recently attended WLG | summit Atlanta '22. Tell us about your experience.
It was a great conference and very well organized by the fantastic team of Miller & Martin. The Carter Center Tour on Thursday morning was very interesting and it brought back memories of many historic and truly important achievements by a great former president with the right values. Reconnecting with WLG member firm delegates during the conference was a pleasure. I enjoyed the speed dating event on Friday because it gives you the opportunity to get to know new WLG contacts, learn about their businesses, and identify common business opportunities. Peter Carter of Delta Airlines’ speech on the future direction of international travel was really inspiring— – what an airline!
4. What is your favorite vacation spot?
I have many. When it comes to skiing Cervinia/Zermatt. During the summer, I prefer my summer home on the coastline of Denmark, maybe with a small “detour” to Amalfi in Italy.
5. Have you had any recent client, marketing, or other collaboration with a WLG member firm?
In September 2022, Bech-Bruun’s Real Estate & Construction Team visited Gianni & Origoni’s offices in Rome. It was a great opportunity for our firms to get to know each other even better and subsequently there have been referrals coming out of it. Currently we are arranging a visit from Setterwalls to discuss and exchange business opportunities between our firms.
