Further to our previous updates, we can now confirm that the long awaited new DIFC Employment Law will come into force on 28 August 2019.
The new DIFC Employment Law (DIFC Law No. 2 of 2019) has now been enacted and will replace the current law in its entirety.
The new law contains a number of material changes from both the current law and the draft law which was issued by the DIFC during the consultation period in March 2018. Some of the key changes are summarised in the article below.
It is important for all DIFC employers to review employment contracts, employee handbooks and any other employment policies and procedures to ensure consistency with the new law.
