International Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual event held in September to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the coastal environment. As part of this initiative, PLMJ (Portugal) launched a campaign in June to encourage its staff to take part in one of four beach clean-up initiatives in September in Porto, Lisbon, Faro, and Luanda. Each office coordinated a clean-up activity on a nearby beach, focusing on the collection and removal of litter and debris. The overall aim of these initiatives is to cover a significant stretch of coastline, from Porto in Portugal to Luanda in Angola, by cleaning as many kilometres as possible.
By organizing these beach clean-up initiatives, our firm hopes to encourage people to take action to preserve coastal ecosystems. The events provide an opportunity for individuals to actively contribute to the cleanliness and well-being of the coastlines in these cities. By targeting specific locations close to each office, the initiatives foster a sense of local ownership and encourage participants to develop a deeper connection with their immediate coastal environment. Ultimately, it is our hope that the combined efforts of participants in these locations will have a significant impact on the health of coastal areas and promote a collective responsibility for the preservation of our oceans and beaches.
