Vintae Takes Control of Bodegas Riojanas through Court-Approved Restructuring Plan

Cuatrecasas advised Vintae, the wine company behind wineries such as López de Haro and Matsu, on the design, negotiation, court approval, and implementation of a restructuring plan allowing it to take control of 90% of the share capital of Bodegas Riojanas and complete a process that ensures the viability of one of La Rioja’s century-old wineries.

The transaction is an important milestone in Spain’s corporate restructuring market, as it allowed an industrial investor—a winery group—to take control of a publicly listed company whose financial situation threatened its survival and made insolvency proceedings imminent.
